DAY 1 - BARI (HALF BOARD)
Transfer to the hotel and the rest of the day free to start visiting the city on your own. Accommodation.
DAY 2 - BARI / TRANI / S. GIOVANNI ROTONDO / MONTE S. ANGELO / GARGANO (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Departure for Trani and visit to the cathedral on the sea. Continue to S. Giovanni Rotondo, a place where the faithful gather from all over the world, next to the salt pans of Margherita di Savoia, the largest in Europe, where there is an important colony of pink flamingos. Lunch. Visit to the places where St Pio developed his work and left his legacy. Departure for Monte San Angelo, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, and a visit to the sanctuary with the grotto of San Michele Arcangelo. Arrival at the hotel and dinner. Overnight.
DAY 3 - GARGANO / UMBRIAN FORESTS / VIESTE / GARGANO (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Drive along the Gargano coast, with panoramic stops at the Baia delle Zagare and the Architiello di San Felice with its watchtower. Arrival in Vieste, lunch and free time. Guided tour of the historic centre. Return to the hotel via the ‘foresta umbra’ and dinner. Accommodation.
DAY 4 - GARGANO / BARLETTA / BARI / ITRIA VALLEY (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Departure for Barletta where you will enjoy a pleasant stroll through the historic centre admiring the city's main monuments such as the Norman castle, the cathedral of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Colossus of Barletta or ‘Eraclio’ and the ‘Cave of the Challenge’. Then a visit to a local olive oil mill and a tasting of the famous Altamura bread. Lunch and departure for Bari with a visit to the historic centre with the Basilica of San Nicola, a masterpiece of the Pugliese Romanesque. Drive to the Itria Valley. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 5 - ITRIA VALLEY / CASTELLANA CAVES / ALBEROBELLO / OSTUNI / ITRIA VALLEY (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Departure for the Grotte di Castellana and a visit to the caves of the same name. Arrival in Alberobello, the ‘capital of the trulli’, lunch and tour of the monumental area declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch. Departure for Ostuni, the ‘white city’, and a walk through its picturesque historic centre with a visit to the Romanesque-Gothic cathedral. Return to the hotel and dinner. Accommodation.
DAY 6 - ITRIA VALLEY / LECCE / OTRANTO / ITRIA VALLEY (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Departure for Lecce, the ‘Florence of the South’, capital of the Pugliese Baroque. Visit to the historic centre with the Basilica of Santa Croce, the Piazza del Duomo and the Piazza di S. Oronzo. Small olive oil tasting before lunch. In the afternoon, departure for Otranto, ‘Gate of the East’, with its Romanesque cathedral, the chapel of the tomb of the Blessed Martyrs and the suggestive crypt. Return to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 7 - ITRIA VALLEY / MATERA / BARI (FULL BOARD)
Breakfast. Departure for Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019, a city carved into the rock where you will visit the famous ‘sassi’ (caves carved into the mountain), which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lunch and departure for the Bari area. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 8 - BARI / PORTUGAL
Breakfast. At a time to be arranged locally, transfer to the airport to board the return flight. Arrival.
