TUNISIA, DESERT AND BEACH
Indicative itinerary subject to changes until departure date
DAY 1 – TUNIS
Departure for Tunis. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.
DAY 2 – TUNIS / CARTHAGE / SIDI BOU SAID / HAMMAMET
Breakfast. Departure to the medina of the Tunisian capital with its colorful and varied markets. Lunch. In the afternoon, visit of Carthage, ancient Roman and Punic capital, to visit the Punic ports and the thermal baths of Antoninus. Continuation to Sidi Bou Said, the charming village of white and blue tones where you can stroll and enjoy its essence. Arrival in Hammamet, dinner and accommodation.
DAY 3 – HAMMAMET / EL JEM / MATMATA / DOUZ
Breakfast. Departure to El Jem to visit its famous Roman amphitheater, declared a World Heritage Site and is now in better condition than the famous Colosseum. Departure to Matmata, ancient Berber village where you can find its famous “troglodyte houses” that offer a different and peculiar passage that you expect in the country and have served as a film set for one of the most famous sagas in history: Star Wars. Arrival in Douz, the “Gateway to the desert”. Lunch, dinner and accommodation.
DAY 4 – DOUZ / CHOTT EL JERID / KAIROUAN / HAMMAMET
Breakfast. Departure from Douz through the salt lake of Chott el Jerid, to reach Tozeur. Lunch and time at leisure for an optional excursion in 4x4 vehicles to the mountain oasis Chevika, Tamerza and the dunes of Ong el Jmel, near the city. Departure to Kairouan. For the Sunnis, it is the fourth holy city of Islam after Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem. World Heritage Site, visit its imposing mosque and a carpet factory. Departure to Hammamet or other beach area.
Remarks:
- Tourist tax: 3 dinars per person per night, to be paid directly on arrival at each hotel.
- The order of the itinerary and/or visits may be changed without affecting the total content of the program.
- During Ramadan, the country's main religious vacation period, from February 28 to March 30, 2025, the monuments will be subject to schedule changes and closures, which will be communicated as soon as possible.
