PHNOM PENH
Breakfast. Enjoy a bike tour of Phnom Penh's most emblematic monuments, a fun way to explore this lively city. The first stop is the National Museum, designed by George Groslier and the Cambodian School of Arts, built in 1917 in traditional Khmer style and inaugurated in 1920 by King Sisowath. It houses the most important collection of Khmer art, religious and archaeological objects from the 4th to the 13th century and exhibits around 5,000 items that constitute the Kingdom's stock of cultural goods. Next, a visit to the Royal Palace, which dates back to 1866 and was the last palace built during the French colonial era. It is the home of the Silver Temple, so called because of the 5,000 silver tiles that cover its floors; however, the original name is Wat Prakeo, which means Temple of the Emerald Buddha. In this temple you can see a collection of gold, silver, crystal and bronze Buddhas. Finally, a visit to Wat Phnom. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon visit the colorful markets of Phnom Penh: the Central Market, an art deco landmark and one of the largest markets in the city, if not in all of Cambodia, and the Russian Market, the best place in the city for wood and stone carvings, jewelry, clothing and Cambodian silk souvenirs. This is followed by a tuk tuk tour where you will have the opportunity to sample Cambodian cuisine, delicious cocktails and local beer, while getting to know the unique nightlife this vibrant capital has to offer. Dinner at a local restaurant. With a mix of top Cambodian songs and foreign rock hits, you'll be sure to be entertained while sampling some exotic local delicacies. After dinner, stroll past some of Phnom Penh's famous French colonial-era landmarks and enjoy a drink in one of Cambodia's most legendary bars.
Note: although there is no dress code, you may feel more comfortable in smart casual attire.
