Paths of Kumano

Arrival at the airport at least 2 hours in advance. Boarding formalities and departure on a flight to Osaka. Overnight on board.

Breakfast. City tour of Kyoto, including Sanjusangen-do Temple, Nijo Castle, which was the residence of the Tokugawa Shogun, with its delicate architecture and sober decoration, Kinkakuji Temple, built for the Shogun, also known as the "Golden Temple" due to the metal blades that cover it, the garden of Tenryuji Temple and the Bamboo Grove of Arashiyama. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel. Free day. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Transfer to Kyoto station to board the "Hikari" bullet train to Himeji. Arrive in Himeji and start your visit to Himeji Castle*, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After the visit, departure for Kurashiki by road. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the former residence of the Ohashi family and the historic district of "Bikan". Continue by road to Hiroshima. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. 

NOTE: The main luggage is sent directly from Kyoto to Hiroshima, arriving only the following day, so you should pack a travel bag with what you need for 1 night.

*Entrance to Himeji Castle is not bookable and long queues form to climb the tower. If it is not possible to go up, a visit to Osaka Castle will be added to the itinerary on the 9th day.

Breakfast. Visit of the city and the island of Miyajima, including the Peace Memorial Park and its museum, the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Itsukushima Shinto Shrine on the island of Miyajima, famous for the "torii" gate in the sea. Return to the hotel. Accommodation. 

NOTE: Entrance to the Peace Commemoration Museum is not bookable and long queues form.

Breakfast. Transfer to Hiroshima station to board the "Nozomi" bullet train to Shin-Osaka. Arrival and departure by road to Koyasan. Lunch at a local restaurant. Arrival in Koyasan and start the tour of the sacred mountain, visiting Kongobuji Temple, Danjo Garan and Okunoin Mausoleum. Transfer to the shukubo (monastery) for the night. Vegetarian dinner and accommodation. 

NOTE: The main luggage is sent directly from Hiroshima to Osaka, so you should pack a travel bag with what you need for the nights in Koyasan and Kawayu Onsen.

In the first hour of the morning, if you are interested, you will have the opportunity to take part in the monastery's religious services. Typical vegetarian breakfast at the shukubo. Departure by road towards the sacred site of Kumano. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we will walk along the ancient pilgrimage route of Kumano Kodo for 60 minutes (3 km). Finally, visit the Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine, the main site of the pilgrimage route, and the Oyunohara (the former site of the Kumano Hongu Taisha). Transfer to the ryokan in Kawayu Onsen. Dinner and accommodation. 

Breakfast. Departure by coach for Osaka. Arrival in Osaka and start the sightseeing tour of Osaka to visit the "Floating Garden" Observatory in the Umeda Sky building and the Dotombori district. Transfer to hotel. Accommodation.

Breakfast. Transfer to Osaka station to board the JR "Thunderbird" limited express train to Kanazawa. Arrival in Kanazawa and city tour, including Kenroku-en Garden, Oumicho Market, Higashi Chayagai District and Nagamachi District where you will visit the former residence of the Nomura samurai family. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. 

NOTE: The main luggage is sent directly from Osaka to Tokyo, so you should pack a travel bag with what you need for the nights in Kanazawa and Takayama. 

Breakfast. Departure for Shirakawago. Arrival and visit to the town declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, to see one of the traditional "Gassho-zukuri" houses. Departure by road to Takayama. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the city to see the Yatai Kaikan (Festive Carriage Exhibition Hall) and Kami-sannomachi Street. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and accommodation. 

Breakfast. Departure by road towards Nagoya. Arrival in Nagoya and departure by JR "Hikari" bullet train to Odawara. Arrival and transfer to Hakone. Lunch at a lunchbox. Arrival and transfer to Fuji-Hakone National Park, starting with a mini-cruise on Lake Ashi* and a cable car ride* up Mount Komagatake from where, weather permitting, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama of Mount Fuji. Departure by road to Tokyo. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. 

NOTE: *Depending on weather conditions, visits may be replaced by others such as museums and/or temples. The panoramic visit to Mount Fuji will also depend on weather conditions.

Breakfast. Half-day tour of Tokyo, including Tokyo Tower, the Buddhist Temple of Asakusa Kannon, which can be accessed via the lively Nakamise shopping street. Panoramic tour of the city by coach. Lunch at a local restaurant. Return to the hotel by own means (not included). Accommodation.
