DAY 1 – REYKJAVIK
Arrival in Reykjavík and transfer by regular “Fly Bus” service (without assistance) to the hotel or a nearby stop. Accommodation.
DAY 2 – REYKJAVIK / GOLDEN CIRCLE / SELJALANDSFOSS / SKÓGAFOSS / VÍK
Breakfast. Departure to the Golden Circle. The first stop will be Thingvellir National Park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, cradle of Icelandic democracy in 930 and where the first European parliament was established. Besides having a very interesting geological relevance as you can clearly see the fault caused by the separation of the Eurasian and American tectonic plates. Gullfoss is a spectacular waterfall that has two jumps and a total of 32 meters; and finally the two great geysers Strókkur and Geysir, which erupt every 8 minutes throwing a column of water of almost 20 meters. Continue to the south coast, observing the waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógarfoss, the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. Continuation to the Vík area. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 3 – VÍK / SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK / JÖKULSÁRLÓN / HÖFN
Breakfast. Cross the largest lava region in the world Eldhraun and the sandy desert region of Skeiôaránsandur to reach the Skaftafell National Park, integrated into the vast Vatnajökull National Park. Optional 4x4 glacier tour “Vatnajökull Glacier Adventure” (not included). Arrival at Jökulsárlón Glacier, the largest glacier in Europe, where you will take an amphibious boat tour among the huge icebergs in the picturesque landscape of Jökulsárlón (duration: about 30-45 min). Next to Jökulsárlón is a black volcanic sand beach known as “Diamond Beach”, where small blue, white and clear icebergs drift from the glacial lagoon and perch on the sand like diamonds. Continuation to the Höfn area. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 4 – HÖFN / EAST FJORDS / DETIFOSS / MÝVATN
Breakfast. Departure to the East Fjords to Berufjörður Fjord, crossing the Öxi mountain track. Arrival at Egilsstaðir. Drive through the desert area of Jökulsársheiði and continue to the region of Lake Mývatn. Visit to Dettifoss waterfall and Skútustaðir craters. Overnight in the Lake Mývatn region. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 5 – MÝVATN / GODAFOSS / AKUREYRI
Breakfast. The day will begin by exploring Lake Mývatn and the Dimmuborgir formations, which ancient local legends considered to be the “gateway to hell” and the abode of elves and goblins. Visit pseudo-craters, sulfaracts with pools of boiling sulfuric mud and a lava labyrinth where strange lava formations provide shelter for unexpectedly rich vegetation. Departure to the waterfall of the gods, Godafoss. Continue to the liveliest town north of the Arctic Circle, Akureyri. Time to explore the city at your leisure and with the possibility of an optional whale watching excursion or to enjoy a swim in the hot springs of Skógarböð (not included). Accommodation.
DAY 6 – AKUREYRI / BORGARFJÖRÐUR
Breakfast. Drive through the Skagafjörður district and the Holtavordurheidi plateau to the picturesque Borgarfjörður area. Visit the beautiful Hraunfossar waterfall and the most powerful hot spring in Europe: Deildartunguhver. Overnight in the Borgarfjörður area. Dinner and accommodation.
DAY 7 – BORGARFJÖRÐUR / SNÆFELLSNES PENINSULA / REYKJAVIK
Breakfast. Departure to the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This region served as inspiration to the writer Jules Verne for his novel “Journey to the Center of the Earth” where Otto Lidenbrock and his nephew enter through a crater in the Snæfellsjökull to a fantastic world close to the earth's core. See attractions such as the mountain of Kirkufjell and its photogenic waterfall, the rock formations of Arnarstapi and the cliffs of Lóndragar. Continue to Reykjavík. Arrival and accommodation.
DAY 8 – REYKJAVIK
Breakfast. Day at leisure to get to know the city of Reykjavík or take optional excursions. Accommodation.
DIA 9 – REYKJAVIK
Breakfast. Time at leisure until you are taken by regular “Fly Bus” service (without assistance) to the airport.
