SICILY, MYTHS AND LEGENDS

Day 1 Palermo

Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

Day 2 Palermo / Monreale / Palermo

Breakfast. In the morning, departure for Monreale and visit to the cathedral and its cloister. Return to Palermo and brief panoramic tour by bus. Lunch. In the afternoon, guided tour of the historic center to see its main monuments, such as the Palatine Chapel, Palermo Cathedral, and the famous Piazza Pretoria. Accommodation. 

Day 3 Palermo / Erice / Trapani / Agrigento

Breakfast. Departure for Erice, a medieval village located 750 meters above sea level. It brings together many Sicilian characteristics, such as Norman urbanism, the Arab organization of dwellings around the courtyard, and a wide variety of sweets. Continuation to the western part of Sicily for a panoramic tour of Trapani with its salt mines. Visit to the sea salt production area, surrounded by the mills that produce the famous Trapani salt. Lunch. Departure for Agrigento, “the most beautiful city of mortals” where, today, you can still admire ten Doric temples rising from the valley. Dinner and accommodation. 

Day 4 Agrigento / Ragusa

Breakfast. In the morning, visit the famous and unique “Valley of the Temples.” Departure for Piazza Armerina, visit the splendid Villa Romana del Casale, a luxurious residence in the heart of Sicily, an important example of the Roman period, where you can admire the precious mosaics representing the customs and traditions of the time. Lunch. Continuation to Ragusa. Panoramic tour of Ragusa Ibla, the historic center of the city. Dinner and accommodation. 

Day 5 Ragusa / Noto / Syracuse / Catania

Breakfast. Departure for Noto, the capital of Sicilian Baroque, where you can admire its magnificent, completely renovated cathedral and stroll through streets full of architectural treasures. Continuation to Syracuse, the largest city of antiquity, to visit the archaeological park with its Greek theater, Roman amphitheater, and the Ear of Dionysius among the Latomies. Lunch. Continuation the visit with the island of Ortigia, connected to the mainland by a bridge, offering visitors the remains of its glorious past such as the temple of Athena, transformed into a Christian cathedral, the legendary fountain of Arethusa, and the temple of Apollo. Departure for Catania. Accommodation. 

Day 6 Catania / Etna / Taormina / Catania

Breakfast. Departure for Mount Etna (subject to weather conditions), the highest and still active volcano in Europe (3345 meters): the bus will arrive at the Sapienza Refuge at an altitude of 1800 meters. Visit the extinct craters, known as the “Crateri Silvestri.” Lunch at a farm at the foot of Etna where, in addition to enjoying a typical and authentic meal, you can taste the Etna wine produced by the locals. Continuation to Taormina, located on top of the picturesque rock of Mount Tauro (204 meters above sea level). Free time to discover the romantic narrow streets of the city or to visit the famous Greek theater, from where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Etna and the Ionian Sea. Return to Catania, the most important city on the east coast, characterized mainly by its volcanic stone buildings, where a panoramic tour will be made. Accommodation. 

Day 7 Catania / Messina / Cefalù / Palermo

Breakfast. Departure for Messina for a panoramic tour of the city, including views of the strait that separates Sicily from the mainland. Continuation to Cefalù for lunch at a local restaurant. Cefalù is an evocative town by the sea that offers visitors a wonderful artistic display of lights and colors. Free time to stroll through the narrow streets lined with jewelry stores and elegant boutiques that preserve all their medieval charm. Transfer to the hotel in Palermo. Accommodation. 

Day 8 Palermo

Breakfast. At a time to be arranged locally, transfer to the airport.
